Women’s health is being wrongly restricted across the systems it depends on - from social media platforms to payments and financial services.
The impact is often most visible online on social media, where content is removed, accounts are restricted, and businesses struggle to reach the people who need them.
But the issue doesn’t stop there.
These same biases shape what gets funded, supported and scaled - limiting access to information, care and innovation across the entire sector.
CensHERship is working to change that. But we need your help.
We can move faster if we work together, speak up, and apply pressure where it matters.
This page explains what we’re doing, why it matters, and how you can get involved.
What CensHERship is doing
CensHERship is leading work to expose and address systemic bias against women’s health across digital and financial systems.
We are:
Building evidence and research - documenting real-world cases of suppression across platforms and services
Convening industry through the Women’s Health Visibility Alliance
Engaging and influencing regulators (including under the Digital Services Act (EU) and the Online Safety Act (UK))
Driving solutions by working with platforms and partners to improve classification, moderation and risk assessment systems
95% of companies, charities and creators we have surveyed have experienced social media censorship and online suppression.
Our research has been featured on BBC Radio and in national media including The Times, The Guardian, The Independent, as well as Forbes and Wired.
We have engaged with regulators across the UK and EU, submitting more than a dozen official complaints under the Digital Services Act.
Our goal is to level the playing field for women’s health — so it can be shared, discovered, funded and scaled without unjust restriction.
Why become an ambassador?
Women’s health content is often suppressed online not because it is inappropriate, but because platforms cannot reliably distinguish between health information and adult content.
That’s where many people first encounter the issue.
But the consequences go further:
Women rely on digital platforms for health education and support
Women’s health companies depend on social media to reach users and grow
Businesses face barriers to advertising, payments and financial services
Suppression limits access to care, innovation and investment
Change at this scale only happens when people come together - and use their voice.
We are building a movement of individuals, brands, clinicians, researchers and advocates who are willing to do exactly that.
The more people who speak up, share evidence and apply pressure, the harder it becomes for platforms, financial providers and regulators to ignore.
